Ode to the R.E.S.

As you can see, we got a new car this weekend....an '09 Honda Pilot!! Luuv it! We gave in and got the R.E.S. (Rear Entertainment Center...AKA DVD player). When driving around Mt. P, I always thought it was pitaful that people had their DVD player going...like, can't a kid wait 5 minutes to go across town to go home or whatever. Seriously, you can get anywhere in Mt. P in less than 10 mins. But... we thought it would be nice to have when going to Austin or Dallas or even Tyler. Well..let me tell you...that's the best thing we ever did. Ours came with wireless headsets for each of the boys so we didn't have to hear "Bee Movie" all stinkin weekend. Oh wow...we didn't have one fuss, fight, fit...nothin' for two whole days. It was so peaceful in the car. Brian and I could have a conversation..a full conversation!! So...I take back every judgmental thing I said about you mom's that have that movie going 24hrs a day. Well, we did decide to establish some DVD rules. They can only watch on the weekends or when we go on a trip out of town. BTW....we were all smiles in the photo attached until I made them be still for the pic!!!

Sunday fun in Mt. P

The hurricane brought some pretty hefty rain and wind starting Saturday afternoon BUT before it hit Mt. P. we had to make a little trip to Texarkana. We were in hot pursuit of a "Cowboy costume with guns" per my 4 year old. Just a week ago, he was wanting to be batman but after he saw his friend with a cowboy belt that two holsters for guns...we've changed our mind. After our short-lived outing, we went to Paula's(Brian's mom) to ride out the storm. All the cousins were there so of course the boys had a blast. Sunday was beautiful so after church (and nap) we played outside and the boys "helped" Brian wash the truck. Notice the guns on Hudson...he has worn them non-stop since Sat. except bath, bed and church. Boys will be boys...and you don't even have to teach it!

"I don't want to be a big boy"

Those are the words from a weeping 2 1/2 year old that does NOT want to wear underwear and use the potty! This week Drew started potty training. For those of you who have experienced it...you know what kind of week I've had...for those of you who haven't...prolong going through the process as long as you can!!! He started off wearing underwear(with a huge fight, I might add) and had quite a few accidents but now after 4 days...we have gone #1 AND #2 in the potty! YEAH!! YEAH!!! We're over the hump! The hardest part is actually making them relax(and if it's boy, stop touching his you know what) enough while sitting on the potty to let "business" happen. And especially #2...that took Hudson weeks to do. I think using underwear instead of pullups, did the trick. Yeah Drew...you're the bomb! Now, let's see how he does spending the night with Sunny tonight...Good luck, Mom. I have to be at Heritage Park at 5 freakin' 30 to help w/ Mt. P Cancer Crusade...thanks a lot Amanda. JK...it'll be fun. Let's hope my lil' Punkin keeps up the potty usage!! I love NO diaper changing!!

Jumping on the Blogspot bandwaggon!!

Ok Catherine..I'm inspired too....so...here's a blogspot about life in the boonies...Mt.P!!

Just got back from Austin yesterday! Go HORNS!!! We whooped Florida Atlantic!! What a way to start the football season. I randomly sat next to my pledge sister, Kristin, whom I haven't seen in forever. She's getting married in Nov. so we caught up on the planning details, etc. Sooo much fun...I love weddings. Brian went too...not sure why? All he did was check the Aggie game on his phone the whole time. Unfortunately, the Aggies lost. They showed the score on our scoreboard when the game was over and the crowd started clapping and they even shot our Canon. I secretly thought it was great!

While we were there, we also visited my college roommate, Megan. She's due to have her first baby in two weeks. We came baring gifts. Mer (my grandmother) knit her a blanket, my mom hooked her a rug for doorway of the baby's room with the baby's name on it (so cute) and I brought a handmade outfit (haha) from Pottery Barn Kids and bath towel with the baby's name on it, Davis. I remember being prego for the first time...the end if just plain awful!! Hang in there Meg!
